Q1: How often should I have my carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned?

A1: All home/work environments are different. This depends on each individual customers particular needs and requirements. Some experts recommend as often as every six months, most manufacturers recommend that carpets are professionally cleaned every 12 to 18 months. However it is entirely up to you. Allowing soil to build up will matt the pile together and significantly reduce the life of a carpet. Carpets should be cleaned on a regular basis and before they become heavily soiled for hygiene reasons and to prolong the carpets life. Hide Answer.

Q3: How long will it take for my carpets to dry?

A3: Drying times depend on many conditions including, how soiled the item is, how much water is needed to clean it, weather conditions, indoor temperature and the atmosphere. However when we clean a carpet by our hot water extraction process they can be dry within 2 to 4 hours. However we do provide free blow drying, we use high powered blow dryers which rapidly reduce drying times and carpets can even be dry when we use these, before we leave. If your carpets are cleaned using our revolutionary Dry Fusion cleaning process the carpets are usually dry in 30 minutes. Hide Answer.
Q4: Do I have to move all of my furniture?

A4: NO. We will happily move furniture. The general rule is if the furniture is fixed or permanent eg: heavy wardrobe, sideboard, bookcase, it is easier to clean around the item, and if the carpet has never been walked on this makes it easier for the customer. Everyday items eg: 3 piece suite, tables can stay in the room and are easily moved to one side whilst we clean under them, and then the items moved back again, we kindly ask that you move all small items, personal possessions, clothing, children’s toys etc., for insurance reasons we are unable to move any heavy, large or fragile furniture, any electrical equipment or goods of high value. Q5: Can we walk on the carpet immediately after it has been cleaned?

A5: Yes, providing that outdoor shoes are not used transferring dirt onto the freshly cleaned carpet, we can offer plastic over shoes to be used during the drying period of the carpet. Hide Answer.
Q6: How long will the cleaning process take?

A6: Of course each job is different, but using our experience and asking a few specific questions, we can generally give you a very good idea of the approximate job estimation time, as a guide we can usually clean a 4 bedroom house in one day. Hide Answer.
Q7: Can I get a free estimate over the phone?

Q8: I just got quoted a price and it was quite a lot cheaper that yours?

Q9: Can you guarantee my carpet won't shrink if I have it cleaned?

Q11: Will my carpets/upholstery become re-soiled quicker following cleaning?

We only use cleaning solutions designed for the removal of soil from carpets and upholstery. All cleaning solutions applied in the cleaning process are the very best on the market and are also all completely rinsed out during the cleaning process. Q12: I have children/pets will they be affected by the cleaning process or chemicals?

Q13: Are you insured?

A13: Yes we are. All businesses are required by law to carry public liability insurance. This means if you trip over a cable and break your neck, you’ll be covered. We go a step further and are covered for ‘goods worked on’. This is expensive and few cleaning companies have this. Q14: Can you remove all stains?

A14: The likelihood of successful stain removal will depend on what the stain is, what the carpet fibres are made from and if anything has already been used to try and remove the stain. The worst type of carpet fibres to remove a stain from are wool and nylon. This is because they are an absorbent fibre type and can easily be re-dyed by coloured spillages. Common problematic stains are tea, coffee, urine, curry, bolognese sauce, red wine, lucozade, cherryade, make-up, ink, dye, some paints, fake tan, wood stain or varnish, lily pollen. We carry a wide range of stain removers on our van but unfortunately some stains are permanent or can only be reduced. We will always try our best to remove them though. Hide Answer.
Q15: Do you apply Stain Protector?

Our Stainshield Professional Protector treatment not only provides protection from spills and soils, but also makes cleaning easier and keeps a fresh-cleaned look for ages.Our stain prevention treatment will not affect the look, feel or appearance of your carpets, and can be successfully applied to all synthetic and natural fibres. Q17: Can I clean my carpets and soft furnishings myself?

A17: It is highly recommended that a professional cleaning company is used, there are many items advertised for carpet and upholstery cleaning that are available to the public. However along with these come many risks including dye bleeding, shrinkage and over wetting. Therefore there is a high potential of causing irreversible damage. DIY cleaning machines also use cheap sticky chemicals, these sticky chemicals remain in your carpet and attract dirt which leads to them re-soiling very quickly. Q18: Do you dry clean carpets?

A18: Yes, we offer the ‘Host’ Green Clean & Dry system, whereby carpets can be cleaned and dried in one process, and ready for use immediately after cleaning, resulting in no downtime!
Strictly limiting the water used means that carpets are dry after cleaning. The sponges absorb soil and no soil is left in solution at the base of the carpet - so soil cannot wick back to the carpet surface and appear as a spot some time later. Hide Answer.
Q19: Do you work out of hours?

A19: Yes. Alot of office/commercial work is usually done out of hours, via either weekend or evening appointments to suit the customer. Also with regards to domestic work, if weekend is the only time that work can be completed we will endeavour to meet the customers needs. Hide Answer.
Q20: How do you work out how often office carpets should be cleaned?

A20: We attend site and work out a specific maintenance carpet cleaning programme to provide you with the best cleaning service to keep the carpets looking pristine for as long as possible. Each office environment is different, it depends on the amount of traffic, the number of the workforce, the nature of the work, the daily cleaning, traffic, food and drink spills etc. We can also detail a maintenance cleaning programme to any specific budget which will cover maintenance of all main traffic areas periodically. Q21: Do we need to move desks in an office environment?

A21: No. Acorn Carpet Care are extremely experienced in the maintenance of all office areas and are always aware of the large amount of computers/electrical items used in an office. Q22: Do you clean Sisal, Seagrass, Coir – Natural carpets?

A22: Yes, We use a dry system: TheHost ‘Dry’ Extraction Carpet Cleaner, which is formulated to dissolve both water soluble and solvent soluble soils and then to absorb these soils. Hide Answer.
Q23: What are the cause of black lines around the edges?
Show Answer
A23: These lines are called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the gaps between the carpets, the skirting board and under closed doors. As the air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, this microscopic soiling is deposited there (hence the term filtration soiling). This occurs over a significant period of time and is not noticed until a build up has occurred. This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile sometimes into the backing of the carpet. We have a cleaning solution for the removal of these marks, and although it is not always possible for total removal, we do achieve very good results. Hide Answer.
